About Me

Hello, Hola, Bonjour!

My name is Marie, and I am an art therapist, researcher, and artist with international experience supporting children, teens, adults, and families in navigating illness, grief, neurodivergence, and life’s challenges. Originally from Europe (France/Germany) and after a non-linear life journey, I am currently based in Houston (USA), where I am provisionally licensed as a Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) and Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P).

I hold a PhD in Expressive Therapies from Lesley University and a Master’s in Counseling and Art Therapy from Edgewood College. My clinical training includes work in pediatric and adult oncology at Hospital General de México Eduardo Liceaga (Mexico City) and MD Anderson Cancer Center (Houston, USA). Keen on empowering patients, I developed Icanfeel, a digital tool that transforms patient-created art into health data, now in clinical trial at MD Anderson. Alongside my clinical work, I serve as a Visiting Scholar at The New School University in New York, where I research the role of artificial intelligence in therapeutic attunement. I also teach at the Instituto Mexicano de Psicoterapia de Arte and serve on the leadership team of Expressive Arts Without Borders.

A curious optimist, I once embarked on a two-year journey of self-discovery, meeting hopeful strangers across the world and learning from their ways of resilience and meaning-making. From this experience grew The Journey of the Blue Butterfly, a poetic docu-fiction that reflects my own healing path and belief that creativity and connection can flourish across cultures and in unexpected places. You can watch it here.

As a practicing artist, I continue to weave creativity into daily life, whether through painting, writing, or exploring new foods and cultures with loved ones. I strive to bring a person-centered, multicultural perspective to everything I do, combining evidence-based methods such as cognitive behavioral therapy with creative, playful approaches.

At the heart of my work is a simple belief: creative imagination expands our universe. It is both our deeply personal and universal magic power to help us navigate pain, celebrate growth, and discover new ways of blooming, no matter where we find ourselves on life’s journey.
